Aloha Performing Arts Company’s third annual Bachelor Auction presents charming bachelors, fun auction packages and live entertainment from the comedy group The Alohahas.
“We’re really excited about this year’s auction,” said Sara Hagan, event organizer. “We have about 12 bachelors who will be paired with a date package that includes an activity and a restaurant. We received donations from places such as Quinn’s, Mi’s Bistro, the Crab Festival at the Mauna Lani, and many others.”
This year’s auction committee went out into the community and recruited the handsome, eligible men who were willing to be philanthropic and have themselves auctioned off for a good cause.
All the money raised goes to the Aloha Performing Arts Company to support their mission to provide live theatre and performing arts education opportunities to West Hawaii.
“Even some of the places that donated to the auction, also rallied some eligible men from their work that were willing to do it,” said Hagan. “Some of the activity packages include snorkeling, paddle boarding, and golf.”
This year’s auction hosts a variety of bachelors of all ages — gentlemen in their 20s to those in their 60s.
“There’s going to be something for everyone,” said Hagan. “We have a wide range of bachelors this year. We have a couple of retired gentlemen, and several younger gentleman — from young to more mature. We even have one bachelor who is returning from last year because he had such a positive experience. We’re excited about that because the main idea is that everyone have a good time, both the bachelors and the ladies who are attending.”
This year, the event will also offer date packages that don’t have a bachelor attached to them, so ladies who aren’t looking for a date can bid on items, as well.
“The date packages are the winning bidder’s to do with what she wants. She is under no obligation to take the bachelor with her,” said Hagan.
This is an 18 years old and up event. VIP ticket holders get in at ^:30 p.m. for pupu and a chance to meet the bachelors, the event gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
“Last year we raised about $5,000,” said Hagan. “We were really happy with that number and we hope to meet it or exceed it this year.”
Ticket prices are $20 for VIP or $10 for general admission. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.apachawaii.org. ■
